Project 2048: Day 24

January 30th, 2012

Today I had a girl’s day out with my friend Aoife. We went shopping and sat in Union Square chatting over coffee. It was such a nice day out! In fact I got so hot that I had to take off my sweater, and I was still sweating in my t-shirt! I took a few pictures of Union Square for a new series. Later we got manicure and pedicures together.

My postcards arrived today! They look great! I printed some clear labels with my solo show information and stuck them on the back of a handful of the postcards.

Project 2048: Day 21

Today I googled some random pictures of San Francisco Victorian buildings and drew them in this charming style using ink and prismacolor marker on white tracing paper. I like how this came out, mounted on 14″x18″ canvas board. However, I am getting sick of  the black ground line on top of a yellow block. I think i am going to start embracing 2 point perspective again.

I spent today and yesterday applying to the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Workspace program, which provides a free studio in lower Manhattan to accepted artists from Sept. 2012 – May 2013.  I submitted my Jane Grey Project for their consideration.  Here is a link to the program if you are interested to learn more: http://www.lmcc.net/residencies/workspace/apply

Project 2048: Day 13

January 30th, 2012

Today I finished collaging all layers onto these 9″x12″ panels. I am not thrilled with the results, but i do like working with the gessobord panel as opposed to canvas.

Project 2048: Day 5

January 9th, 2012

Here is what I have been working on in my studio. All these studies are 9″x12″, ink and colored pencil on tracing paper.

I am trying to develop a new visual style for a series of collages on gessobord. I have ten 9″x12″ boards to work with to start off and then i want to gradually increase the scale.
